Stacey Dawn Mckinlay
August 19, 1983 – October 8, 2017
It breaks our hearts to announce the passing of our beloved Stacey – daughter, sister, grandaughter, niece, aunty, friend and loving young Mother to Abigayle Dawn Mckinlay.
Stacey is first born daughter to Tub & Arlene (nee Driemel) Mckinlay. Stacey leaves to mourn her brothers Justin (Jenn & Kaiden & Madison) and Dale. Also her grandparents Nina (Harry) Driemel and Beverly (Bob) Mckinlay and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.
From a very early age, Stacey was an animal whisperer, drawn to them and them to her. Her instinctive and natural affinity to animals came in handy on ‘Oakdown Farms’. One early morning a mama struggled to birth her baby lamb and Grampa’s arm was far too big to assist. Brave little Stacey rolled up her sleeve and with Grampa’s guidance, she slipped her little arm into help deliver the newborn prize.
Stacey enjoyed a successful career, cooking. Starting at the sink as a dishwasher she worked her way to the top of kitchen management. Stacey loved to prepare a meal for her family and as an avid gardener, grew her own food, barefoot and hands in, with her green thumb.
Stacey enjoyed camping and swam like a fish, learning to swim with Mommy & Daddy, starting at 6 weeks old. A conscientious student, Stacey excelled in her early school years through to high school.
To her Dad, Stacey was his little ‘Punkin’, collecting wood as his helper and flying kites in the field. To her Mom, little ‘Squirt’ never lost that handle or their bond. An inwardly spiritual woman, Stacey embraced a greater power in her life.
Celebration of Staceys Life to be held Saturday, November 25th, 2017 at 1 pm at the Cowichan Bay Firehall – 4461 Trans Canada Hwy-Duncan BC.
