In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sophie Wong of Nanaimo BC. She is survived by her sister Joan, her husband Bob, her children (Glenda, Kevin and Darryl), 4 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Victoria BC, Sophie worked with the BC Department of Education before marrying Bob and moving to Nanaimo in 1959. Most of her 30+ years with SD68 were spent managing the multifaceted front desk duties at NDSS until her retirement in 2000.
In their retirement Bob and Sophie enjoyed traveling and visited China, New York City, Hawaii, and Alaska. One of their highlights was a cross Canada trip in their motorhome. Sophie enjoyed her afternoon golf rounds at Cottonwood with her favourite golf partner, Bob. She loved cooking up a storm for family and friends and created many wonderful memories for us all around the dinner table. She was an avid baker and was known for her blackberry pies and butter tarts. Sophie was a kind, thoughtful and caring person who will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
The family is grateful for the excellent care provided by Dr Brooks at the CCA, and the NRGH Staff (Emergency and Palliative Care).
In lieu of flowers donations to the Nanaimo Hospital Foundation (Palliative Care Unit) will be graciously accepted.
