July 1, 1929 - November 5, 2021
It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Sophie Enns on November 5th, 2021, at the age of 92, after a long battle with dementia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bernard. She is survived by her sons Calvin and Kevin, and grandchildren, Conor and Kathleen. The second youngest of 5 children, Sophie was born on July 1st, 1929, in Winnipeg, where she spent her early years. Sophie relocated to High River, Alberta, where she met husband Ben and had their two sons. In 1962 Sophie and Ben settled in Nanaimo, where they spent over 40 years in the home Ben built by-hand. Sophie was an active member at Hammond Bay Pentecostal Church and worked for a short time at Nanaimo City Hall before retiring to focus on her family. She loved to play the organ in her spare time and enjoyed baking with her grandchildren, as well as canning vegetables from their expansive backyard garden. She will forever be remembered as a kind and loving soul, whose smile always warmed the room.
Please join Sophie's family in remembering her at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Ave, Nanaimo, any time between Twelve and Three in the afternoon on November 20th. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
