On 7th September, 2018 at 11:30 pm our darling daughter Sonia Severn passed away very peacefully after a four-year battle of pain and discomfort from cancer. Sonia leaves behind her Father Michael Severn, her mother Louise, her brother David and his wife Julie & children. Sonia also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was a letter carrier in the Departure Bay area for 34 years. Everyone loved and cherished her excellent service which was above and beyond, especially to the animals on her route. It was nothing for her to stop traffic so that deer, ducks, etc. could cross the road. She loved all the dogs and cats and spoiled them all as well as checked up on their wellbeing. A very special family friend did the cancer bicycle run from Cloverdale to Chilliwack and from Chilliwack to Hope at the end of August for Sonia.

He exceeded his goal for funds and received the Ambassador T-Shirt and medallion which he gave to Sonia. She held it through the whole ride. He phoned her at every pit stop to say where he was, and she told him she was holding the medallion and was on his shoulder where she would help him up the next hill on the route. He is a 72 year-old man, riding against a multitude of young people and yet he made it with flying colours. Sonia would be pleased for any donations to go to the Cancer Society for Rectal Cancer. They both hope you will be there to help next year when Barrie rides again for Sonia. Watch for this in June/July 2019.
