November 8, 1936 - October 19, 2022
In loving memory ~
Just shy of her 86th birthday, the family is sad to announce that Shirley McKeever went to her heavenly home and is now safely in the arms of Jesus. Shirley is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Kelly & Amy McKeever, daughter Shawna Kirby, two grandsons, Kyle Shane McKeever, Klein Patrick Pichon, and her best friend Ronald.
Shirley was born in Wadena Sask. on Nov. 8th 1936. In her early years the family lived in Lintlaw, Sask. Then the family decided to move to Flin Flon Mb. There, Shirley lived until graduating from Hapnot High School in 1955. Looking for work, Shirley & her best friend Julia moved to Winnipeg, where Shirley ended up working for the Provincial Government, in the Family & Adoption area. In the spring of 1956, Shirley, on a blind date, met Ron. They fell in love & were married August 1957 in Flin Flon Mb. and moved and worked in Winnipeg Mb.
In 1973 Shirley, with her family, went to Australia where they lived, worked and travelled about the country for 3 years. Upon returning to Canada in December 1976, they settled in Richmond B.C, where Shirley was employed by Agriculture Canada. After her divorce in 1993 she continued to work until she retired in 1995. Not satisfied with retirement, Shirley then drove a Hand-cap bus for children for about 5 years. Shirley was an avid baker, loved traveling, gardening and was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Mixed Seniors 5-pin Bowling League and the Ladies Cribbage Club in Campbell River.
Shirley's love of adventure brought her too many destinations such as Kenya, Australia, Tasmania, Italy, Costa Rica, Malaysia, China, Japan and Hawaii. In 2004, Shirley and Ron rekindled their friendship and moved to Campbell River, living their separate lives, growing old as best friends.
The Family sincerely thanks the First Responders, Nurses & Doctors for all their attention, caring & comfort they gave to our Shirley during her last hours with us. Bless each and every one of you. Shirley will be dearly missed by all.
A service may be planned at a later date.
