It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Stonnell, while in residence at The Gardens at Qualicum Beach Care Home. Shirley was born to Clifford and Lillian Scott in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was the oldest of 4 children.
Shirley leaves behind her beloved husband of 70 years, Richard Stonnell and her 3 children: Cheryl (Brian), Scott (Dana) and Darcy (Bill) along with 7 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her sister Beverly Dieno and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a devout Jehovah's Witness for over 50 years and leaves behind many brothers and sisters from the congregations she attended in Vancouver and Surrey.
The family would like to thank the staff from both Morgan Place, Surrey, B.C. and The Gardens, 3rd floor, Qualicum Beach, B.C., for the wonderful care provided to Shirley during her residence in their facilities.
A special thank you to Josie from Morgan Place and to Lisa from The Gardens. Your advocation for Mom's dignity, along with your loving care and extra attention you paid to her is very much appreciated.
Private cremation has been arranged and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
