April 10, 1944 - October 24, 2020
We are all heart broken by the passing of our dear wife and mother.
Shirley passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Ross, Cynthia and Sandi (Rodney) on Saturday October 24th, 2020.
Shirley was born and attended school in Penticton BC. She moved to Vancouver where she was married to Lawrence Kilby. They moved to Terrace where both her daughters were born.
After a career with Canada Post she transferred to the Island, moving to Parksville in 1977. She obtained her real estate licence and enjoyed a successful 37 year career.
In 1991 Shirley was remarried to Ross Harvey who she remained with until her passing. In 2014 Shirley retired and moved to Kelowna.
She was one of a kind, with her quick wit, intelligence and huge heart. She was a loyal friend with a generous spirit. Amongst her many passions was a love of travel and playing games especially cards.
We all learned so much from her and are all better people for having her in our lives. She taught us compassion, strength of character, perseverance and how to get through our battles one day at a time. She was a fierce and loving Mom who was always there to support her kids.
Shirley was a fighter who never complained but chose spirit and a sense of humour to meet the many health challenges life put before her.
Left to mourn are her husband Ross Harvey, her daughters Sandi Kilby (Rodney Gitzel) and Cynthia Kilby and her beloved Westie Jake. She is survived by her sister Cathy Moerkerken and many nieces and nephews.
We were grateful to have been by her side and that her last words to each of us was "I love you".
Celebration of life to be determined at a later date.
