Shirley Estelle Margaret Learmonth (nee Coppick) passed on 29 December from the affects of cancer.
Shirl is survived by her husband Lloyd, sister Sharon Coppick, sons Sean (Nancy) and Stacy (Katy) Wallington, three nephews and six grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her mother Olive and her father James.
Born in Manning Alberta, she was raised in Hay River, N.W.T. and later moved to Duncan. She was a long term employee of the Cowichan District Hospital and Island Health in Nanaimo before taking a position with Alberta Health in Calgary.
Shirl enjoyed working outside with Lloyd on their property, camping and fishing. During the winter she enjoyed curling with the friends she met at the Nanaimo Curling Club.
Shirl will be missed by the Ellison family of Duncan who took her as a sister, the extended Learmonth family friends and co-workers.
The family thanks Dr. Love and the nurses of the Palliative Care Unit and N.R.G.H. for the kind care Shirl received during her short stay.
