In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sheila Elizabeth Weatherell (nee Miller) on 15 February 2022.  She was 79.  Sheila was a long time resident of Ladysmith before moving to Victoria in 2018.
Sheila is predeceased by David, her husband of 37 years.
She is survived by her younger brother Peter (Valerie), sons Tim (Alison) and Scott (Tina), and grandchildren Brandon, Kaya, Margaret, Owen, and Logan.
She lived her early life in Richmond Hill, Ontario, with her parents Bob and Ruth Miller and her younger brother Peter.  As a girl Sheila enjoyed figure skating, dancing, and singing in the chior at Richmond Hill Unitied Church.
Following in her mother's footsteps she graduated from Women's College Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.  In 1968 she travelled to Ganges, Salt Spring Island, to work in the hospital there.  It is on Salt Spring Island that she met David, who would be her square dancing partner for the next 40 years.
After they married in October of 1971 she spent time as his Deck Hand during the fishing season.  After Tim came along she focussed her energies on raising her two sons and supporting her church and community.  She was active in the St. John's Anglican church choir and council, an active member of Cursillio and Ultreyas.
After surviving breast cancer in 1998 she was an active member of the Ladysmith Cancer Society.  She volunteered for years at the Ladysmith Food Bank.
In 2018 she moved to Victoria to be closer to her children and grandchildren.  She loved singing, dancing, crocheting, and cultivating her garden.  She was kind, generous, unfailingly polite, quick to smile and slow to judge.
A funeral will be held at St Philips Anglican Church in Cedar, BC at 1 pm on Friday, 25 February 2022.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to the cancer charity or food bank of your choice.
