April 10, 1940 – December 31, 2020
Sharon was born April 10, 1940, one of twin daughters to Edward and Peggy Boa of Vancouver, BC. She is survived by her sisters, Barbara, Sheila, Mary and Dorothy; brothers, David and Peter.
Sharon had 4 children, Julie Walker, who passed in May 2020, and is survived by; James (Brenda) Walker, John (Alison) Walker, and Nora Walker (Brian). She was married to her first husband Jack Walker for 29 years until his death in 1990.
She later married Ron Wright in 2002, until his death in 2015. She formed lasting bonds with Ron’s children, Kathleen Shephard, Tom (Deanna) Wright, and Randy (Michelle) Wright and their families. Sharon had 19 grandchildren in all and 9 great grandchildren.
Family was extremely important to Sharon, one of her joys being family gatherings. She would spend hours preparing food for all and take great pleasure in companionship over dinners and gatherings. Both the Walker and Wright families would come together at these events, which at times would number well in excess of 30 people.
Sharon loved her sisters and her brothers, they gathered regularly throughout their life, and were always welcome. “She had a big heart and always gave and didn’t want anything in return”. They especially enjoyed their yearly visits at Sharon’s home.
Sharon worked for many happy years at Thoms Ladies Wear and Touch of Class in downtown Duncan until her retirement.
Sharon enjoyed camping, gardening, raising her children, travelling (in earlier years) and an active social life; including working as a volunteer at the Cowichan hospital and with the candy stripers. Particularly, card games were a passion for her, with all the bridge ladies and family. She also enjoyed crochet, needlework, preserving food and baking with her grandchildren.
Sharon was a survivor of cancer, which first appeared at the age of 39. She lived a full life and loved all life’s experiences. Recently, a recurrence of the disease took her from us very quickly. We loved her deeply. She will be greatly missed will forever be in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer society and/or Heart and Stroke foundation.
Sharon was interred at St. Mary’s cemetery on January 7, 2021, with close family in attendance. A memorial will be planned for later in the year. Obituary
