It is with a deep sadness that the family of Sandy Mitchell announces her sudden passing. Mom had been experiencing declining health over the last few years, with the last several months being very trying for her as she slowly lost a lot of her freedom due to the devastating effects of COPD.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert, parents Victor and Audrey and brother Wayne. Sandy will be lovingly remembered by her son Mark Hallam; daughter Deborah (Keith) Wakelin; grandson Brandon O'Gorman, granddaughter Kelsey (Kordell) Bergen and their children Ava and new twin boys Tyler and Jacob (her first great grandchildren!). So glad Mom met them!
Mom was born in Montreal, QC but lived in Ottawa, ON, and Dartmouth, NS. Sandy lived the last 24 years in the Comox Valley.
She had many interests during her 77 years- knitting, crochet, playing the guitar, flute, fiddle and ukulele. Sandy had a variety of jobs in her lifetime as well as volunteering, including a few years at the local Women's Resource Centre. Mom was very social, loved the time she spent with friends playing cards (Lucille and Mildred), her time with the Red Hats Society and her great neighbour, Lisa, who made sure Mom got her Timmy's coffee every day.
Sandy will always be known for her great sense of humour, which she never lost, despite the challenges she faced during her lifetime.
Please join us in remembering Sandy by visiting our memorial at www.piercysmtwashingtonfuneral.com. At Moms request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandy's memory to the SPCA as she loved dogs.
