Born in Merritt, BC and raised in New Westminster. As a young man, S. Donald was a bomb aimer in WW II flying in the RCAF with Pathfinder squadrons 405 and 432, completing 2 tours and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Post war, returning to Vancouver, he continued with his banking career, met his beloved bride-to-be, Shirley, married and eventually settled in Sidney (1964) to raise their 2 children, Randy and Colleen.

Don was manager of Bank of Montreal in Sidney and Oak branches. An early retirement (from 39 banking years) took Don and Shirley on many travelling adventures, favorites being Hawaii and driving holidays through Canada and the US. Not being able to fully relax, Don's many part time jobs and interests included Panorama Leisure Centre, Corps of Commissioners, BMO Pensioners Assc., Aircrew Assc., and Probus Club.

Don was also a keen member of the Rotary Club bringing focus to community fundraising and for many years called BINGO annually at the Saanich Fall Fair. During his life Don's hobbies were raising homing pigeons and chickens, vegetable gardening and just driving his car wherever the road took him (and of course, with Shirley at his side), buying his last 'new' auto at 91 yrs.

A decline of health began the following year and after reaching the grand age of 96, Don was reunited with his bride in the glorious heavens above.

Don was predeceased by wife, Shirley, of 64 yrs (Alzheimer's, Nov 10/17). Left behind is son Randy (Chantal), daughter Colleen (Stuart) and grandchildren Brad, Aaryn, Devin and Emily.

No service, by request. A private family celebration of life to be held at a later date.
