In Loving Memory ~
Ruby was born and raised in Wrexham in Wales and Manchester in the UK. She served in the Fire Service in the second world war. Once the war ended, she married Merchant Seaman, Alan Stanley May and emigrated to South Africa living in Durban and Empangeni in Zululand for 15 years where their two sons were born.
Leaving behind many memories they returned to Cornwall England to help their family run a successful resort (Summerleaze Beach Hotel).
In 1972 they arrived by Ship via the St. Lawrence and set foot on Canadian soil, by train and settled in Richmond, B.C. Ten years later they settled in the Cowichan Valley in 1982 with the purchase of Rosebank Court, hands in with family, in the Coopers Restaurant and Nightshift. Living at Acacia Lodge (Trillium) in Shawnigan Lake for her later years as she struggled with dementia.
She is survived by her sons, Allan (Lilieith) of Roberts Creek, and Brian (Joan) of Shawnigan Lake. Brother-in-law, David (Barbara), nephew, Stephen (Melanie), niece, Anna (Stuart) and many cousins in Australia. Niece, Susan of Duncan, nephew Phil (Debbie) of Cobble Hill not to mention five grandchildren Sheldon (Kate), Courtney, Yelaina (Curtis), Devon, Tessa and three great-grandchildren Quinn and Jade (Sheldon) and Paxton (Yelaina).

From deep within our hearts, our family would like to thank the Acacia Lodge (Trillium) staff for the kindness and love that they have shown Ruby in her later years.
