August 8, 1957 - August 11, 2022
Roy Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by all his loved ones. He is survived by his Wife Georgina, sons Curtis and Kyle, Sister and brother in law Peggy and Rod Waller, Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law Eunice and Drew Bremner and 5 grand-Children who will continue to honour his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Roy was predeceased by his parents Egon and Helga Thiele.
Roy was born in Vancouver and joined the Canadian Forces at the early age of 18. During his career Roy re-mustered to Clearance Diver and retired as a Chief Petty Officer 2nd class. Roy was well thought of by all his Peers, supervisors, and all the people he worked with.
Of note was his participation in the Swiss Air recovery and that he was the last Canadian Clearance Diver to operationally dive the Mark 5 Helmet.
Roy's love of all things nautical didn't end with his career he took a position of Facility Maintenance Supervisor at Ladysmith Marina. Roy was well loved by staff and the customers who saw him on the docks every day or singing and playing guitar at the potluck dinners on Friday night.
He will be missed by all.
