Mr. Ronald Peter Pitman died peacefully in hospital surrounded by family on November 9th, 2018 in Fort McMurray, Alberta at the age of 75.

Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Doris Pitman (nee Put). His daughter Leann Manuel (Chris) and their son, Miles (3 mos); His son, Shawn Pitman (Erin) and their four children William (11), Amira (10), Ethan (7) and Oliver (5). As well his sisters Doreen Dore (Paul) and Betty DeForest and their families.

Ronnie was born on January 11th, 1943 in Horsham, Sussex England to Joseph and Irene Pitman. As a child he moved to Port Alberni where he lived until 2014. There he attended ADSS until 1960 when he began working various jobs from learning mechanics, the plywood mill, to finding his life's profession of driving truck for many employers throughout the Alberni Valley. In the 90's he operated his own business, R.P. Pitman Trucking.

Ron was very much a people person, a true conversationalist. His other passions were racing motorbikes, rally cars, CB & Ham radios, badminton, sightseeing, photography, hobby farming, remote control sailboating, drawing/design and supporting with fervor his wife and children's interests of Quarter Horses. Ron was usually last to leave a group of people, the first to strike up conversation and always had a word of encouragement.
