Ronnie was born on January 11th, 1943 in Horsham, Sussex England to Joseph and Irene Pitman. As a child he moved to Port Alberni where he lived until 2014. There he attended ADSS until 1960 when he began working various jobs from learning mechanics, the plywood mill, to finding his life’s profession of driving truck for many employers throughout the Alberni Valley. In the 90’s he operated his own business, R.P. Pitman Trucking.
Ron was very much a people person, a true conversationalist. His other passions were racing motorbikes, rally cars, CB & Ham radios, badminton, sightseeing, photography, hobby farming, remote control sailboating, drawing/design and supporting with fervor his wife and children’s interests of Quarter Horses. Ron was usually last to leave a group of people, the first to strike up conversation and always had a word of encouragement.
