November 17, 1926 - December 5, 2021
Ronald Henry Howard passed away peacefully in his own home on December 5, 2021 at age 95. He was born November 17, 1926 in Vancouver BC. The Howard family moved to the Fairfield area of Victoria when Ron was a teenager. He married Patricia in 1949 and they had a fabulous life together for 65 years until Pat's passing in 2014. Ron and Pat lived in Esquimalt for over 40 years before moving to Mill Bay 28 years ago. For years Ron was a cabinet maker and a builder of fine homes in Victoria. He then became a partner in Universal Fasteners and Concrete Accessories and VI Fasteners with his son Pat.
Ron was an avid sports fan. He started to enjoy golf at the age of 12 when he caddied at Pt Grey Golf Club in Vancouver. He became a full member of Royal Colwood Golf Club in 1949 and was granted a life membership sometime in the 90's. Ron was well known in the golfing community and his name appears on many trophies at the Club. He held nearly every position at the Club, including Men's Club Captain, Greens chairman and more. He was on the B.C. Senior golf team and ran many tournaments at the Club over his years there. Many happy and memorable times for the whole family were spent at Royal Colwood Golf Club.
Ron was so lucky to have some great neighbors and friends in his townhouse community. Many thanks go out to Bryan & Heather, Diana, Trina, Pam, Allison, Marlene and good friend James Pelmore for your support over the years. He leaves his devoted and loving son Patrick & wife Penny, his granddaughters Tara & Carlee and his great granddaughter Kaitlynn whom he adored. Ron also leaves his sister Shirley and sisters-in-law Marie Long and Meryl Howard, his sons Ron and Harry and their families, along with his nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank Dr. W.J. Reynolds and the Mill Bay Medical Centre for their care.
In keeping with Ron's wishes, Pat will contact Ron's dear friends and family to celebrate his life at Royal Colwood Golf Club in the Spring of 2022.
