Born January 18, 1927 and passed away on December 2, 2018.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roma. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, her sister Doreen and brothers Norm, Jim, Ray, Dave, Charlie and Garth. Roma is survived by her three sons, Jeff (Shelley), Dale (Janet), Charlie (Donna) and daughter Helen. She leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Roma was born in Duncan and raised in the Cowichan Valley. Her childhood memories were filled with many adventures that included her bothers, sister, cousins and friends. Roma met Gordon in Duncan and it was during the war years that they married. They became a logging family with contracts on Pender Island, Texada and numerous west coast locations north of Campbell River. Roma will always be remembered for her work ethic. She and Gordon moved often and every new residence was very quickly turned into elegant homes with gardens that she loved to work in.
Roma and family at times lived in remote logging camps where she was noted for her ability to adapt to all situations. She often had to handle camp jobs (cooking, dump operator) while raising her four children. As her husband used air planes in his business she also took her license and became a competent pilot. In later retirement she and Gordon enjoyed travelling, especially to Hawaii. She continued these trips until health prevented further travel.
Interment will be at the Dougan Cemetery in Duncan on Dec 18, 2018 at 1 pm. A celebration of life will follow at 2 pm at the Arbutus Ridge Golf Club.
