Robert (Bob) Price
Born May 8, 1930, in Hillcrest, Alberta. Died April 11, 2023, just shy of his 93rd birthday.
Wilhelmina (Ina) Price
Born March 24, 1933, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Died May 14, 2023, at 90 years old.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a special couple, Bob and Ina Price, who left this world within a month of each other. They shared a journey of love, respect, commitment, and companionship for an amazing 69 years.
They were born in different corners of the world. Bob spent his early years in Bellevue, Alberta where he worked in the coal mines. Ina spent her early years in Edinburgh until 1951, when she came to Canada to be with her sister who had married a Canadian soldier and was living in Blairmore, Alberta.
Bob and Ina met at the wedding rehearsal of Bob's brother and Ina's friend. Bob was the best man and Ina was the maid of honour. In 1953, a short time after the wedding where they met, they were married themselves.
A few years later, they moved to Port Alberni where they settled and raised their 3 children - Robyn (Mark), Lance (Sharlene) and Lisa (Reg).
Bob worked hard to complete night school to become an electrician while at the same time working full time at the pulp mill in Port Alberni. He then began his career as an electrician at West Coast General Hospital, which he loved and was very proud of.
He often spoke of how amazed he was at how far he had come, despite having very little early education. Bob was a hard-working man who lived his life with a quiet pride. His life was an example of resilience and perseverance. Once he retired, Bob could be found most days at the Alberni Golf Club, where he enjoyed his golf.
Ina's greatest joy and accomplishment was raising her three children. They were the highlight of her life. Bob was the first to say that his kids turned out good because of Ina. She was a devoted wife and a nurturing mother and she held the family together with her selflessness and unconditional love.
Once her children were grown, Ina worked as a baker's helper at Mountain View Bakery. She was always a very hard worker, whether in her home or in the bakery.
Once she retired, she started an entertainment group called "Crazy Capers" where her and her friends would entertain seniors with very funny skits, singing, and dancing. Ina was also an extremely talented knitter, creating her own designs that were loved and worn by many.
In 2014, Bob and Ina moved to Campbell River to be closer to their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Family was very important to them. Bob and Ina lived a long and fulfilling life together. They had what most people always wish for, a partner to grow old with. They spent very little time apart and they took care of each other right to the end.
Bob passed first after a rapid decline and just a month later, Ina joined him, as if unable to bear the thought of being apart for too long.
We hope their journey continues forever together. They will be lovingly remembered by all who knew them.
