June 4, 1930 - December 13, 2021
Robert Malcolm Rauser was born in Elrose, Saskatchewan on June 4, 1930 and passed away in Campbell River on December 13, 2021. He and Shirley were married on October 14, 1950 and they raised two sons, Keith and Gene, in their home on Harrogate Road.
Bob was a successful, well respected business owner in Campbell River. He and Shirley had a long and happy retirement, touring logging roads in good old Suzy, checking out bridges and hunting for caves. They spent many winters in the Arizona desert, and camped every summer at the Strathcona Dam. They enjoyed many "Happy Hours" with friends and family. Bob said he was never bored a day in his life. He was known for his amazing story telling ability, his recall of what he called "utterly worthless" facts and statistics, and for his impressive woodpile!
Bob was predeceased by son Keith in 2004 and wife Shirley in 2016. He will be forever loved and missed by son Gene (Carla), grandchildren Cindy Kennedy (Chad), Corey Rauser (Tannis), Rachel Bettenson (Dan), Jillian, Jordan and Gavin Rauser, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. His memory will be cherished by his many friends, and in particular his dear friend Maxine Chasteauneuf.
The family would like to thank all of the home care workers who assisted Bob. Thanks as well to all the staff at Discovery Harbour Care Centre for their kindness and compassion, and the wonderful care they provided to Bob over the last few months of his life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to BC Children's Hospital, the ALS Society, or a charity of your choice. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date.
