June 10, 1934 - August 25, 2020
Robert Graham Hunter passed away peacefully on August 25th at Nanaimo Hospital.
Bob was born on June 19, 1934 in Vancouver and moved to Port Alberni as a child.
Bob served 5 years in the RCAF in communications, traveling to France and Germany before starting work at Macmillan Bloedels Port Alberni pulp mill. There Bob took an electrical apprentice becoming an electrician for MB, then Larson Electric and Bailey Electric before becoming the BC Electrical Inspector for 25 years. After retiring he continued on with his own electrical company for another 10 years.
Family: Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor (Dent), his sister Phillis Johnson, and his children Gina (Bruce), Rob (Miri), Patricia (Chuck), Ina (Eric). Bob also leaves behind grandchildren - Dustin, Rochelle (Graham), Jamie (Jenna), Daytona (Cam), Scott, Bridget (Dean) Robert and great Grandchildren - Shaelyn, Daxton, Aaralyn, Kael, Sidney, Hudson and Miller.
Bob's hobbies and pleasures included, serving with the Cherry Creek Volunteer fire department for 35 years, (being the last founding member to retire from the department); a Royal Canadian Legion member since 1969 and President in 2019, as well as very active on committees; Boy Scouts, St Johns first aid, RC plane club, volunteer and ski-patrol at Aerosmith ski hill, walking groups, biking groups, volunteering at Echo center, and served on the executive for seniors 4plexes on 10th Ave.
Bob was always very active in the community and will be missed dearly by many including, family, coffee club and camping friends.
