February 18, 1942 - June 28, 2019
Robert (Bob) David Tustin passed away peacefully the evening of June 28, 2019, at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Alice Tustin. His memory will always be cherished by his wife of thirty-four years, Barb Duncan; two loving children, Christie and Mark Tustin; brother, Ed Tustin and his son Michael; Barb's extended family; and Bob's close friends.
Bob was born in London, Ontario. He moved to British Columbia in the early 1960s and worked in the banking industry for over thirty years. When he arrived on the west coast, Bob embraced his lifelong passions of hiking, mountaineering, and photography. After their marriage in 1985, Bob and Barb started a family. Bob took every opportunity to ensure his family experienced the outdoors together. Bob was a caring husband, father, brother, and friend.
Bob was a lifetime member of the Island Mountain Ramblers and was actively involved for a number of years with the Federation of Mountain Clubs. His passion for the outdoors and mountains inspired spending every chance he had to explore nature. His involvement in clubs and outdoor adventures resulted in many lifelong friendships. Some of his favourite mountain excursions included the Coast Mountains and Strathcona Provincial Park.
Through his love of traditional black and white film photography and the mountains, Bob's photographs were published in numerous books, newspapers, and journals. Bob designed and built his own darkroom in the family home where he devoted much time developing and restoring photographs.
In lieu of flowers, Bob would have wanted everyone to take some time and begin exploring Vancouver Island and experiencing the outdoors.
As per Bob's request, no formal service will be organized. A celebration of life will be held at our family home at a later date.
