1931-2021 ~ Robert (Bob) Charles Smallwood will be remembered dearly by family and friends. Bob passed away June 3, in his 89th year. He was born in Birmingham, England in 1931.
As an RAF Air Cadet, he was called up to duty in the RAF. In 1951 Bob married his sweetheart Eileen (Puffer). They emigrated to Canada in 1953 and Bob joined the RCAF. Bob was an Aero Engine Tech in Portage La Prairie until 1959 when he was posted to #4 Wing, Baden-Söllingen, Germany.
In 1963 he was posted to CFB Comox and loved the life there, especially the salmon fishing. Subsequent postings to Baden and Namao affirmed his love of life in Comox and the root of the decision to retire there.
Comox will remember Bob as the man who walked his Basenji dogs around town. He will be remembered for his love of fish and chips.
Family will remember him as the father, grandfather and great grandfather who had so many stories to tell.
Bob is predeceased by his wife Eileen (2016). He is survived by his three children, Linda (David), Robert and Brigitte (Jeffery), eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
