Sadly Bob passed away at the age of 90 at Assiniboia, Sk
He is survived by his 5 daughters and son, Barbara, (Jerry) Berenger, Texas, Evelyn Smith, Salt Spring Island, Karen (Donald) Osterbeck, Merville, Tina Loubert, Campbell River, Sandra (Stephen) Clement, Assiniboia, Sk, Vincent (Christy) Smith, Nanaimo. His twin sisters Dora Miller & Doris Fuhr, Comox. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by Dorothy & his brother Allan.
Bob was born at Vermillion Alberta to Edgar & Susan Smith (Bensmiller) and raised in the Islay, Vermillion areas of Alberta enjoying the hard life of farming with horses. He eventually moved to Calgary where he met and married Dorothy Gardener, later moving to Burnaby. He enjoyed a long life of many different jobs that took him to a number of place. You could write a book about all his adventures.
In the mid 70's Bob moved to the Comox Valley. He was a cement finisher for a number of years and worked on the 17th St. bridge. He then worked for many years at the Courtenay Hotel and was known as "Bob the flower guy" because he maintained the beautiful gardens around the hotel. Also remembered as "Uncle Bob" and dancing the night away at the Fifth Ave.
In 2008 he moved to the farm by Coronach, Sk and later to Assiniboia to be near more amenities and his daughter Sandy.
A Celebration of Life will be at a later date in the Comox Valley.
