April 17, 1924 - March 19, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Gaudreau on March 19, 2021 in Port Alberni, BC. Bob was born on April 17, 1924 in Saskatchewan. He was the 2nd of 7 children born to Francois and Jeannette Gaudreau.
Bob came to Port Alberni in 1949 for his sister's wedding and never left. Over the years he held a variety of jobs and eventually retired from the APD. He enjoyed working on his hobby farm and travelling in his RV.
He was a man of little education but could build anything from the ground up whether it was from a magazine picture or something he imagined in his mind. He loved to play crib and regularly skunked family members.
For the last 4 years he resided at Echo Village. He thoroughly enjoyed his life there claiming it was the best move he had ever made. He connected with some old friends and made many new ones. Not only was Echo Village his home but the staff and residents became his extended family.
Predeceased by his 1st (and 3rd) wife Mildred; his 2nd wife Irene; his son Larry; parents Francois and Jeannette; siblings Lucy (Fred); Frances (Leo); Roland (Della). In-laws Steve, Fred (Gladys), Lillian (Roy), and Virginia (Fred). Son-in-law Jack and step-daughter Joan.
Bob is survived by his daughter Helen; grandchildren - Carla (Ken), Kevin, Renae (Jimii); great grandchildren Janae and Rylie. His siblings - Ben (Margaret), Jean, Rose (Vic). Sister-in-law Eva (Andy). Stepchildren - son-in-law Emil and his children Debby, Donnie, Sandy and Theresa; Bob (Colleen) and their children Keith, Kelly, and Kristen; Richard (Clark); and Beth (Dave) and their children Christopher, Jason, and Laura. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr Van der Merwe and to the entire staff of Echo Village for the years of excellent care they gave to Bob.
