December 20, 2019
Co-Founder Of Comox Valley Youth Music Centre
Robert Creech (Bob) died on December 20, 2019 in County Clare, Ireland, at the age of 91. The Comox Valley will remember him fondly as the inspiration and founder of the Comox Valley's summer school for music and performing arts students, as well as a brilliant French Horn virtuoso.
With his friends and colleagues, including conductor Simon Streatfeild and Comox Valley's well-loved Beryl Regier, Bob started C.Y.M.C. (now Comox Valley Youth Music Centre) in 1967. It is Canada's longest running summer music school. It was a place where young musicians played alongside many of Bob's professional colleagues.
Bob Creech was so proud of the Comox Valley's continuing support of C.Y.M.C., which is very much alive and well. CYMC is a not-for profit organization, and it was Bob's policy not to turn anyone away because of financial need. Donations can be made in memory of Mr. Creech, tax receipts are available. If you are interested in supporting C.Y.M.C. with time or financial support, we would love to hear from you. Contact info@cymc.ca or call 250 338 7463.
