After a very brief illness Bob (Bookie, Polish Prince of Passion, Roberto el Gigalo), beloved husband, wonderful father, fun loving grandpa, passed away at home in the loving arms of wife Patsy and son Jay.
Beloved daughters Arla Myram (Roger, Olivia and Parker) and Misty Melnuk (Hayden and Keehan) and son Jay Melnuk (Renee, Isabella, Blaise and Liam) will truly miss their wild, fun loving Dad and Grampa.
Living life to the fullest and following his dreams, sweeping Patsy along with him, Bob had an amazing and wonderful life right to the end. Passionate, competitive, kind and always helping others he will be missed by so many.
His held-close-to-the-heart friends from Winnipeg, Courtenay and San Juan Costa Rica always held a key to his heart and his car. Willing to jump in his truck and drive wherever for family, friend or neighbour. No one hesitated to call Bob.
Bob was famous for his 200% energy level which dragged people on to the dance floor, to the ping pong table, the lawn dart or archery competitions. He was famous for his polish control in hearts and his dead-eye ringers in lawn darts.
Instigator of famous parties and giver of love, that was our Bob. Never liking to exclude anyone, a simple dinner for four would soon become a wild party.
He was well known for his participation in the community through playing ice hockey, floor hockey, slow-pitch and baseball; coaching minor hockey; organizing summer games grass-court volleyball; organizing and participating in the 24-hour sport-a-thon for Children's Hospital; fund raisers for Cystic Fibrosis.
He loved the wild competitions in build-bail-and-sail and the snow-to-surf. Also known as a business owner and member of the Courtenay Council.
All that participaction in Canada led to his integration in his Spanish community. Bringing all his vitality and love to all the events he organized or sponsored here on the finca (farm). The Ticos loved him for his inclusive attitude towards everyone.
Bob has left a lasting legacy and those who were blessed to know him will celebrate their memories with us.
