Rob passed away in Port Alberni, BC on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the age of 70.
Rob is survived by wife Lily of 50 years of marriage; daughter Alicia; siblings Karen (Don), Jaye (Lloyd) Teddy, Patty (Joe), Michael (Christine) and Margaret; nieces and nephews as well as many extended family in Ontario and BC.
Born in Soo Ontario Rob attended the University of Windsor and received his Bachelor's Degree in English.
Rob and Lily moved to BC in the early 70s where Rob attended University of British Columbia and received his Masters of English. Soon after he started work as the editor of the Arrowsmith Star newspaper in Parksville, then moved to Port Alberni to work at the AV Times where he worked for 20 years.
Rob then started a new career in radio at 93.3 The Peak radio station for 10 years before retiring. Rob loved the news and reporting it,and was well known for holding people accountable when they occupied a public position.
When not working he enjoyed running with his dogs, travelling, creative writing and spending time with his family.He also had a passion for watching sports. Rob's all time favourite baseball team was the Detroit Tigers, which he followed since he was a kid.
He fought a good battle with cancer for the last 11 years.
