In loving memory ~
Richard ("Rick") Lebeuf was born October 22, 1962 in Val-d'Or, Quebec. At age 6, his family left Quebec, drove across the country, eventually settling in Campbell River. There Rick cultivated many life-long friendships and met his wife, Barb. He joined the RCMP at age 24 and was posted in Alberta, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, BC, and Ontario. Rick was a straight shooter who always spoke from the heart. He was quick to stand behind his convictions and served the communities he was posted to with bravery and compassion. He was a mentor and a leader to his coworkers. Friend or stranger, he was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. He retired at the rank of Sergeant after 30 years of service having collected many adventures, stories, good memories and great friends along the way. He moved to the Comox Valley in 2016 to be close to family and begin the next chapter of life.
Rick was always in motion and to call his interests hobbies would be an understatement - he was passionate about fishing, the Habs, good scotch and a great cup of coffee to name just a few. Whenever he could combine these activities with the company of family or friends he was in his happy place. He loved being active and being in the outdoors. His greatest love however was his family. He was the number one fan of each of his daughters, Carly and Megan. His unwavering love, sense of humour, and sage advice will be deeply missed. To the end he was a big presence at any gathering, he dealt with adversity head on always concerned for the well-being of others ahead of himself.
Rick passed on October 5th in the loving presence of his wife and daughters. He was predeceased by his mother, Lorraine Lebeuf, and nephew, Ryan Hudson. He will be dearly missed by his father Paul Lebeuf, sisters Liette Hudson (Brett) and Nancy Boufeas (Jim) his extended family and many good friends. His death leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all who knew him.
Our sincerest heartfelt thanks are given to the nurses and staff at Aitken Community Hospice and Dr. Langhans who cared for Rick and our family with such tenderness and compassion. Also, many thanks to the Island Heath Palliative Care team, BC Cancer and Dr. Falk.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held at a future date. If friends so desire, donations may be made directly to Aitken Community Hospice, BC Cancer or the Brain Tumour of Canada Foundation in Rick's memory.
