July 27, 1948 - May 19, 2021
After a fierce, but short battle he fought with a mean aggressive cancer we lost Rick on May 19th. He was surrounded by his loving wife Irene, his niece and nephew Shelby and Curtis and his angelic neighbour and friend Dana.
Rick was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Babe and Pat Kelly and his younger Brother Danny. He is survived by his wife Irene, his sister Penny (George) and brother Casey (Olly).
His many nieces and nephews and his loyal pal Kilo and all of the Hargreaves family.
Rick was born at St. Paul's hospital in Vancouver July 27th, 1948 and raised in Marathon Ontario and Chemainus BC. Rick was a hardworking, compassionate, caring, emotional man.
He loved his family, friends and his tugboat workmates of 40 years. He loved rock and roll music, dancing, hot rods, camping, good food on a hot plate, get togethers, his home and sitting out on the deck watching life and living in his memories.
He was so proud of his home on the ocean and the place he built on Thetis with his pal Arne. But you all know Rick's passion was his 1939 Buick Special and those Canucks.
A favourite song he would always dance to and live by - "We're here for a good time, not a long time, so have a good time, the sun can't shine everyday".
He didn't get the time or chance to say goodbye to you, but you know who you are. Rick cherished and loved you. We will miss you Rick.
So much more to say and do that isn't going to happen. So sail into the sunset Rick with the sun shining warm upon your face, and the winds always at your back - beat peace. And for all of us here .... Know that you have "someone to watch over you".
