October 3, 1940 - May 29, 2022
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Richard Campbell Ragan.
Rick was one of four children born to Ray and Diana Ragan. He grew up in Little Qualicum and Qualicum Beach. He loved hunting, fishing and playing baseball.
In 1965 he married Dawn Krog, and they moved to Port Alberni where they had 3 children. In 1977 they moved to Fort St. John. Where Rick worked until retirement. By this time the family had been increased by the birth of 10 grandchildren.
In 2010 Rick and Dawn returned to the island. Rick was always involved with the community, coaching hockey and baseball, volunteering with the church and Legion and then with Stanford providing support to residents there. Rick loved his family, cars, fishing, sports, and tinkering with wood and models. He had an ironic sense of humour and made people laugh wherever he went.
He was predeceased by his parents and 1 grandchild, Dirk Ragan. He is survived by his wife Dawn, children Ann (Scott), Bob (Chrystal), Christie; grandchildren James, Rebekkah (Stephen), Timber (Hayley), Caleb, Samantha, Joseph, Ashton (Kaylene), Edwin, and Owen, great-grandchildren Abigail, Alden and Charlie.
Thank you to all the friends and neighbours who o ered their love and support as well as the Palliative Care and Home Care teams for their help and care.
