MWO(Ret'd) Richard (Rick) Wright passed away peacefully on Sunday, 28 March 2021 in the North Island Hospital, Comox.
He was predeceased by his brother, Paul and his Mother, Edna. He is survived by his wife, Margo; Son Tyler (Jill); Dad Robert; brothers Jim (Joanne), Brian (Cathy), and Keith; sisters Barb (Stephen) and Rose; brother-in-law (Kim), sister-in-law Judy and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Rick served 37 years in the Air Force as a MSEOP (Transport). He was posted to Lahr, West Germany; Greenwood, NS; Gagetown, NB; Toronto, ON; Vancouver, BC; and Comox, BC.
He retired in March 2018 and took a civilian job at CFB Comox Transport. He loved his time in the Military!
Rick loved his sports! He played badminton; squash; broomball; hockey and baseball. He played baseball (Komox Masters) at Highland Park with the Blue Jays (his favourite team)! He also liked doing Sudoku; jigsaw puzzles and watching his favourite hockey team, Toronto Maple Leafs!
Rick was a great supervisor and mentor; wonderful family man; a true friend and was very quick with one-liners! He was loved by many and will be surely missed.
Cremation has taken place. As he requested, there will not be a service or celebration of life. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
I would like to thank all the nurses/care workers/Drs on Floor 3A who kept Rick comfortable during his final days. I would also like to thank Kent Roduck, Comox Valley Funeral Home, for all his assistance during this difficult time.
