Ria Faye is now safe and shining with those in waiting surrounded by universal love. The love, energy, joy, kindness and compassion of those that were a part of Ria's life and transition has been grounding for us all many times over.
Ria was born in Comox and her childhood is full of many happy memories growing up surrounded by love and affection. Her grandparents Papa John and Gramma Helen on Piercy and Nana Kaye and Grandad on the farm contributed to guiding and shaping Ria's many wonderful qualities and attributes.
This has had such a positive effect on so many people throughout her beautiful life. As Ria's parents and family we have been the ones being guided by Ria through this difficult journey and we continue to learn from her. We must all be comforted in knowing her strength, courage, grace, gratitude, vision and humility will help continue to guide us and make us all stronger as we face life's challenges.
Ria's passion for the Arts and Photography began with inspiration from her mom Margaret, her art teacher Neil Crouch and carried on through Camosun College and Concordia University. Following this was her dedication to professional photography capturing life long treasures for weddings, family portraits and newborn timelines.
We will forever treasure Ria's beautiful storytelling cards and her Dream Catchers full of her life's special moments, meanings and memories that will watch over us.
Her time with WestJet enabled her to travel the world where she enjoyed many cultural experiences and happiness with her partner Cyrill and family.
A visit to Cyrill's home town in Switzerland generated a strong bond of love and friendship with his family and was always a highlight when travel tales were told.
She also engaged in humanitarian community projects in the Dominican Republic and made an impact on so many others she met along the way. Ria didn't let her illness slow her down and with determination and inner strength successfully completed her Yoga instructors training with her amazing Yoga family and to them all we say Namaste.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all of Ria's family and many dear friends who have made her challenging journey over the past thirty three months a more joyous and meaningful path.
We would also like to thank Comox Valley Hospice and staff, Ruth Barry for your guidance and support, Ria's surgeon Dr. Hentschel, Oncologist Dr. McGee, Victoria General Hospital staff, the Cancer Clinic, North Island Hospital staff and Dr. Smit. Ria's beautiful transition of life ceremony took place in her home surrounded by her close family.
A very special thank you to Dr Daws and Laura, Ruth Barry, Michelle and the Threshold singers, Andrea and Jesse for all your beautiful transitioning and travelling drumming songs.
Ria will continue to be cherished, loved and held by her husband Cyrill and Luna, father Chris, mother Margaret, sister Jesse and partner Matt, and our little joy of life Beecher. With much Light & Love.
