Reverend David Joseph Woodward

Reverend David Joseph Woodward

Dave slipped peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He is predeceased by his loving wife Frieda (2000) and his son Mark (1977).

He is survived by daughters Marilyn Anderson, Eunice Freeman (Ron), Joy McHargue (Lawrence), nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and his nephew Ron Woodward.

Dave spent his early years in the Vancouver area and in his early twenties responded to God’s call on his life by doing outreach on East Hastings. In 1951 he married Frieda and together they pioneered and ministered in churches in Burnaby, Esperanza, Neilburg, Foremost, Merrit, Saskatoon and Kelowna. After his official retirement he and Frieda spent time volunteering internationally and then returned to Kelowna where Dave continued to fulfill his calling by doing pulpit supply and leading a service at Fernbrae Residential Facility until 2017.

Dave’s love for his Saviour and his desire that all would know that they were loved by God gave purpose and meaning to all he did.

A service of remembrance will be held at Bay Community Church, 1105 Pritchard Road, Comox, British Columbia on Saturday, December 16th at 4:00 p.m. I
