The Rev. Dr. Claud A. Thompson died July 3, 2017 at home in Nanaimo after a brief battle with liver cancer. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis, his son, David, and his sister, Maxine. He was predeceased by his parents, Claud, Sr. and Emily, and his brother, Franklin.
A move to Canada in 1970, brought employment by the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon. Claud’s tenure there, in both the College of Arts & Science’s English Department and that College’s Dean’s Office, ended in 1998 when he and Phyllis retired to Nanaimo, BC. Once retired, he spent many years as a Hospice volunteer in the Nanaimo hospital’s palliative care unit.
