It is with sadness that the family of Ron Herman announce his passing on October 20th 2017, at home with his loving wife of 66 years at his side.

Reinhold, known as Ron or Blondie, was born in Sunnybrook Alberta on November 14th, 1926 and grew up on a farm outside of Leduc. He was one of six children. At the age of sixteen he joined the army and served as a soldier for three years.

At the time of his discharge in Fort William, Ontario, he met and married the love of his life, Lucille Gould. Ron then joined the airforce, where he was a flight engineer on Maritime Patrol with the Neptune, Lancaster and Argus aircraft, rank Warrant Officer, serving 29 years stationed across the country in Greenwood NS, Torbay NFLD, Summerside PEI, Sea Island and Comox BC.

During these postings Ron became a proud father to two daughters, Barbara and Carole.

After retirement, Ron was never idle. He purchased a Commercial fishing boat, was a member of the Comox Flying Club, maintained Beaver and Otter aircraft based out of Campbell River and even constructed a bi-plane in his garage. He flew his own aircraft for 20 years.

He and Lucille enjoyed numerous travels south in their motorhome, participated in fly-ins and relished visits with many friends and family. Ron will always be remembered for his kind and quiet demeanor, blended with a great sense of humour, as well as his caring quality toward the multitude of dogs and horses that shared in his life.

Ron is survived by his wife Lucille, his daughters Barbara Herman (Don Petch) and Carole Herman (Ron Veitch), his brother Herbert Herman (Florence), brother-in-law George Gould and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was recently predeceased by his sister-in-law Thelma Gould.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to dear family and friends, caregivers and the medical community for their love and assistance. By Ron's request, there will be no service.

Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, the Heart and Stroke Fund or the SPCA.
