It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ray Bourquin at the age of 82. Missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Marion of 60 years, his son Dean (Denise), daughter Lisa (James), and grand children Matt (Stephanie), Danielle (Kailen), Scott and Meagan. Also survived by brothers Stan, Randy, and sister Germaine (Ben), and many nieces and nephews. Ray was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan. Ray was a long term resident of the Comox Valley. He and Marion located in Comox after serving 10 years in the Armed Forces. His career in electronics moved them across the country but Comox Valley was always considered their home. Ray can be remembered for running the rest home with his wife in Cumberland (Bourquin Lodge). He was the administrator of Glacier View Lodge and finished o his working years as a realtor. He was also active in the community, and was very proud of being a past member of the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department. Ray was passionate about music and he and Marion enjoyed playing the guitar or banjo and singing Bluegrass. He was very artistic and spent many a day painting beautiful pictures with pen and ink or water colours. Ray had a beautifully deep baritone voice and a wonderful witty sense of humour. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Hospice, at St. Joseph's Hospital. They all went above and beyond to make Ray's last moments comfortable. At Ray's request there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Comox Valley Hospice Society. Dad, we hope you are painting up there on that beautiful canvas in the sky. Love you always.
