In Loving Memory ~
Raymond Davis passed away peacefully on April 14, 2022 in Nanaimo BC at the age of 91.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Anne; son Paul (Pat), stepchildren Leslie Olsen (Jim), Linda Doerksen, Gordon Doerksen (Carole); grandchildren Blake (Melissa), Amy (Evan), Natalie (Dave), Kimberley, Jacqueline; and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Beverley, daughter Marie Davis, sister Marie Westwood, and son in law Harold Wray.
Raymond was born on Dec 27, 1930 in Comox to Florence and George Davis. Fourteen months later, his sister Marie joined him. After High school, he worked for Crown Zellerbach. At the age of 30, and with 2 children to support, Raymond decided to change careers and become a teacher.
His first teaching job was in Sandspit on Haida Gwaii. He was there for two years before moving to Nanaimo to teach. He taught grade 7 in the Nanaimo school district for 30 years. He loved teaching. If he ever met past students on the street, he would call them by name even if it was 30 years later.
Raymond was interested in everyone and everything. He loved to travel, was an amazing gardener, a great cook, a beekeeper, award winning wine maker, along with many other hobbies and interests. He was an active and dedicated member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge #21 in Ladysmith and volunteered at the 7/10 club in Nanaimo for over 20 years.
The family would like to thank the many friends and neighbours that have helped Raymond and Anne in the last few years. Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be greatly missed. There will be no funeral on request. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Red Cross or the Canadian Cancer Society.
