Raymond Frank Shaw

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife Eleanor, children and grandchildren.

Ray was a loving husband of 57 years and a great family oriented father, Poppa to our grandchildren and great-Poppa to Cole.

Ray is predeceased by his parents Rose and Leslie Shaw of Quebec, son Les Shaw, and sister Pat Shaw of Calgary, Alberta.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor; sons Ray Shaw Jr., and Terry Shaw; daughters Rose McLeod Shaw, and Patty Hawley (Lee Hawley) of Port McNeill; grandchildren, Jackie Dicken (Brian) of Vancouver, Heather Hawley, Curtis Hawley (Shannon) of Edmonton, Jenette Hawley of Vancouver, Chantelle McLeod of Nanaimo and many nieces and nephews.

Ray spent more than 10 years volunteering with the Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society and loved his time spent with the children and horses. He loved playing hockey and watching sports.

Ray spent his career logging after moving west from Ontario in his late teens. He worked all over the coast, Queen Charlotte Islands and Vancouver Island. He worked on radar installation in B.C. and Alberta, and drafting in his early years before his passion for logging took over.

Ray gave everyone nicknames and loved teasing the ones he loved. He spoiled his dogs and enjoyed walking them through local trails and back from town.

He was a hard working, fiesty man liked by all who met him. He prioritized his time with family. He enjoyed yearly trips to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to see all his friends.

Flowers gratefully declined, donations to the Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society would be appreciated.

A Celebration of Ray's life will be held on Saturday, December 16th from 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm at the Natives Sons Hall in Courtenay.
