In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ray Yaremko at Comox Valley Hospital with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Anne Yaremko and his sister Delphine. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Oxena and his son David, his siblings Tony, Elsie, Doris, Joyce, Sylvia, Richard, Adeline, Willard and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray was born and educated in Yorkton Saskatchewan. He started his retail career with Saan Stores in Saskatoon, and transferred as a manager to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba where he met his future wife Oxena Yacucha. His last move was to Comox, B.C. in 1966 where he and Oxena were married and then welcomed their son David in 1973. He managed Saan Stores in Comox and the new Saan Store in Courtenay. In 1977 Ray and Oxena opened Roxanne's Fashions in Comox Mall, fulfilling his dream of owning his own retail store.
Ray was involved in the community, being a member of both the Kinsmen Club and K40. Among his leisurely activities, camping and fishing were at the top of the list as well as golfing and curling. After retirement, he devoted himself to gardening, keeping the neighbourhood well supplied with cucumbers and tomatoes.
Ray always had a twinkle in his eyes and anyone who knew him enjoyed his infectious sense of humour. If he heard a good joke, he loved to pass it on, and he laughed just as hard every time he told it. He will be sadly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday February 3rd at 1:00 p.m at Comox Valley Funeral Home, 1101 Ryan Rd. Courtenay, B.C.
