Ray Desbiens passed away unexpectedly in Port Alberni, BC on September 26, 2018 at the age of 60 years.
Predeceased by parents Paul and Elizabeth as well as 2 brothers, Ray is survived by children Shannon, John and Joelle; grandchild Dylan; 6 siblings as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Born in the prairies, Ray came to the Alberni Valley as a small child with his family. He was raised in Port Alberni until he left for work on the North Island. He worked hard in the forest industry and when not working enjoyed mushroom picking and being out in nature as well as being with kin and loved ones. He enjoyed watching hockey and Star Trek. After retiring he came home to be a caregiver to his grandfather and his brother.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Holy Family Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 4571 Burke Road, Port Alberni with Father Ayre officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery. A Potluck Luncheon will be held immediately after the service at the Hupacasath House of Gathering, 5500 Ahahswinis Drive.
