Priscilla Comis "Babe Gunn" passed away in Port Alberni, BC., on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the age of 85.
Predeceased by her loving husband Arllen Comis, siblings Viola, Emmaline "Toots", Phyllis, Kenneth and Arllen's son Gary.
Priscilla is survived by her baby sister Bonnie (Brian) and children Aprille, Barb (Mel), Faithe (Scott), Holly, and Michelle (Darren), grandchildren Jesse-Lee, Lonnie, Kathy, Robert Joseph "BJ", Ardin, Jody, Keegan, James, Nicole, Joshua, Amber, Devon, David, Ryan, Jacob, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, extended family and all her friends in the art community.
Born in Ontario, Priscilla moved to Port Alberni in the early 1960s. She worked briefly at the Beaufort Hotel and in the meat department of Woodward's, before opening her own pizza restaurant called "The Hut".
In 1973, Priscilla returned to school to upgrade her education, and in the same year went on to become the first woman Fisheries Officer in Canada. She developed her artistic talents and experimented with various mediums before finding her passion in carving stone. Her most notable local carving is the "Returning Salmon" located at the Harbour Quay.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the people at Ty Watson for their support and loving care during Priscilla's stay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberni Valley Hospice Foundation/Ty Watson House, 2579 - 10th Ave, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 2P5.
There will be no public Celebration of Life held.
