October 18, 1933 - May 9, 2019
Pieter Marinus Riedijk died peacefully at Campbell River Hospital on May 9, 2019, his beloved wife Doreen and faithful dog Spike at his bedside. His daughter Diane and grandson Kelly arrived from Edmonton just in time to say goodbye.
Pieter was born October 18, 1933 in Yerseke Holland to Marinus and Pieternella Riedijk. He is predeceased by his brothers Toon, Kobus, and Cornelius and by his sister Bertha.
Pieter arrived at Pier 21, Halifax in July 1957. Pieter found construction work in Vancouver while learning to speak English and soon moved to Prince George where his daughters Corinne and Diane were born. Pieter's love of the ocean brought him to Tofino and Port Albion to manage a fish plant, his dream job for many years.
In 1980 Pieter met and married Doreen Calvert. Together they traveled the world, spending many happy winters in the Arizona sunshine.
Pieter is survived by his wife Doreen, his daughters Corinne and Diane, stepsons Bill and Doug (Dawn) Calvert, stepdaughter Carol (Richard) Sweet, and grandchildren Kelly, Kory, Nick (Page), Elenna (Keegan), Tristan, Spenser, Quinton, and Calyssa.
Remembering Pieter in Holland are nieces and nephews Carla (Jan), Danny, Ellie, Ko, Monique, Lia, Nellie, and Henk.

A memorial service will be held for Pieter at Comox Valley Presbyterian Church at 725 Aspen Road, Comox on Saturday June 8 at 11 am. Reception to follow.
