It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Phillis May Allen.
Phillis was born in the Comox hospital to Margarita Hutchings (nee Garree) and Ernest Hutchings. They lived in Nanoose Bay until her father died in 1955 at which time, they moved to Campbell River to be close to family.
Phillis's mother Marg married Jack Krywo and Phillis gained two stepsisters Shirley Ladret (nee Taylor) and Betty Crawford (nee Taylor) all of whom predeceased her.
After graduating high school Phillis attended St. Ann's Academy Business School in Nanaimo, upon receiving her diploma, she worked for a bank in Campbell River.
Phillis married Harold Allen in 1967 and later they moved to Quadra Island. Phillis and Harry spent years Gillnetting along BC's central coast. Once retired, they purchased a sailboat and travelled along the BC coast. They also travelled around Canada before moving back to Campbell River. Harry predeceased Phillis in 2011.
Phillis moved to Victoria in 2017 to be closer to family, she is survived by several step nieces, nephews and two cousins Jackie Schmidt and Joan Hughes.
At Phillis's request there will be no service.
