We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Phil who died suddenly and unexpectedly in Nanaimo General Hospital. Phil was born and raised in Vancouver and attended Britannia High School where he played rugby. He was a logger all his working life and lived in Port Hardy for 25 years.
Phil is survived by Marjory, his wife of 63 years, daughters Donna (Mike), Tracy (Ian), grandchildren J.P. and Kayte (Mike) and great grandchildren Rupert and Ruby.
A Ladysmith resident for the last 23 years Phil loved his daily walks to "his" park (Forrest Field) where he acted as an unofficial caretaker picking up trash while watching the kids play. He was legally blind the last 20 years of his life but that didn't stop him from playing crib and darts at the Legion. He was an avid golfer before he lost his sight.
No service by request, please no flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Foundation.
