May 18, 1950 - November 10, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Phil's passing. He died peacefully at home in his favourite place in Qualicum Beach, B.C. on November 10th, 2022. He will be remembered dearly by his loved ones. Born May 18th, 1950 in Vancouver B.C., as an adult he lived on Texada and the Sunshine Coast before moving to Qualicum Beach. He lived his life the way he wanted to right up until his passing, often building his own trails in the process.
A talented artist and builder, cowboy and back to the lander, he shared his love of nature with family and friends and worked hard to stand up for environmental issues he cared deeply about. A core member of the Tetrahedron Alliance and Tetrahedron Ski Club, he contributed so much and worked so hard towards the preservation of the Tetrahedron Provincial Park, as well as illustrating fundraising posters, building trails and cabins.
He loved Dancer and Rasta (the horses) very much, they brought so much joy, adventure and fun to his and our lives. We're certain they were there waiting for him in the stars and asking for carrots and tortilla chips.
Phil is survived by his children Trevor, Celeste (Martin) and Kevin (Amanda), four grandchildren Alyssa, Jaylin, Vance and Nicholas, and his brother Roger (Susan).
Predeceased by his father Philip George Wright, mother Stella Veronica Turton, and stepfather Nicholas George Makow.
In his memory, donations can be made to the Sierra Club, David Suzuki Foundation, and the BC Cancer Society. In his honour volunteer to build/clean up a trail or write to your local government and MP, giving them what for about environment issues that are important you and your community.
