After struggling with cancer, John passed away quietly at home at the young age of 62. He was born in Vancouver, BC, lived in 100 Mile House for 5 years where he learned the art of log building, then moved to Nanaimo where he raised his family.

In 1984 he started, and was well known in the business community, for the largest and longest existing log home building business on Vancouver Island. John was proud to have built hundreds of his beautiful homes all over the world, and to have been able to contribute to the employment and education of many young people.

An avid and proud family man, he enjoyed travel, flying his Cessna, and spending a lot of time at the cottage watching his family grow.

He leaves behind his wife Kathy of 37 years, his children, Peter (Erin), Julie (Adam), Laura (Levi), and Matthew; also, his grandchildren Koen, Kaden, Isla, Preston, Isaac and Landon.

Although he will be missed by many, his legacy will continue as his children carry on his life's work.

The family had an intimate service and celebration of his life on Dec 20th.

In our hearts forever, John rests at Yates Memorial Cemetery in Parksville.
