Patricia M. Young

December 17, 1946 - September 30, 2022
It is with a heavy heart I must announce the sudden passing of my mom Patricia Young on September 30, 2022. She was surrounded by family as she peacefully slipped away, and we are heartbroken to lose her.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Pat was predeceased by her parents Fred and Freda, her husband Gerry, and her son Christopher. She is survived by her daughter Victoria, son in law Steve, and her pride and joy, her grandchildren Shelby and Christian.
We would love for those who knew her to remember her life with us at Comox Valley Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road in Courtenay, BC on October 19 at 1:00pm.
Mom was born in Vancouver, B.C. Dec. 17, 1946, to Fred and Freda Fulton. There, she attended Little Flower Academy and went to secretarial school.
Mom met dad, Gerry, at a UBC party and it was love at first sight. After marriage, life took them on many adventures and afforded them the opportunity to live in many communities. They loved their time in the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii), Squamish, Campbell River, Vancouver and ultimately the Comox Valley.
Golf became a passion and they settled at Crown Isle in a home mom helped design. They enjoyed many golf adventures abroad and at home with their friends.
After losing dad in 2016, mom recognized the importance of living life to the fullest. Together with friends and family she travelled the world soaking up as much as life had to offer. She was intently involved with her grandchildren and with her spunky youthfulness and courageous spirit, she was the centre of many family adventures.
She will be missed by many good friends with whom she travelled, laughed, and lunched with.
In recent years mom sold her house and moved to her beautiful condo in Comox. She loved it so much and called it her treehouse. From here she took time to appreciate the little things that made her happy: The deer with her babies in the field; the rabbit in the garden; the squirrel chattering in the tree; all the birds in the sky around her.
Mom, you're not gone. We'll forever see you in all your favourite things. We know you'll be there sitting on the deck with us looking at the sunrise and flowers on the spring trees. We'll see you in our children's smiles playing card games at the Christmas table and reminiscing about our family adventures. We'll be sitting with you at the treehouse listening for the eagles' cry or remarking on the regular golferson the first tee below us. We'll see you among the hummingbirds in the garden.
We look forward to your visit. Your chair is ready and waiting on the sun deck every spring and summer evening; in the fall and winter, your favourite spot by the fireplace holds your spirit. We will see you there and we will smile with you.
