July 6, 1939 - September 15, 2022
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear Otto in the early morning hours of September 15, 2022. He bravely faced many health challenges over the last few years. Survived by his wife Valerie, son Kevin (Jaime), daughter Rena (Gord), grandchildren and extended family.
Otto was born in Chemainus on July 6, 1939 and grew up on his family farm on Langtry Road. He worked for several years at Evans Redi-Mix, developed Miller Heights subdivision and managed several commercial properties.
Otto loved puttering on the farm and was never found without a doggie treat in his pocket for his granddogs. Throughout his lifetime he enjoyed travel, road trips in the motorhome experiencing new destinations and just being with family and friends. He never slowed down from keeping busy until he could no longer do so.
Otto was a proud, strong man who gave generously and was always there to help friends and family in need in small and big ways. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of the people who knew and loved him dearly.
Our heartfelt thanks to his Doctors Mohammud Ibrahim, Willie Pewarchuk, Valorie Masuda and to the nurses and staff at the Cowichan District Hospital for their compassionate care.
A private Graveside ceremony was held at Mountain View Cemetery on September 20th. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, the Victoria Humane Society or a charity of your choosing.
