January 28, 2021
In 1941, Olga Covaceuszach was born in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. Her family ran a farm and an osteria (a pub). Olga was an individual. She preferred pants over skirts, had liberal ideas, and was a strong and independent woman. She married Egidio Beuzer, from the next village over, who had immigrated to Canada years earlier.
They moved to Blowhole Bay on the west coast of Vancouver Island. During that time, Andrea Beuzer, their son, was born. Then, they settled down in the Comox Valley, where she would spend the rest of her life. Here she ran their little farm, grew vegetables, raised livestock, and made amazing food, while Egidio worked in camp. She was head of housekeeping at The Collingwood Inn where she worked until she retired.
She lost Egidio in 2001, and lived in her house until she moved into Comox Valley Senior's Village where she spent her last 7 years.
Olga was a strong woman, and a positive light to those around her. She was choosy about who she called friends, but generous with everyone she met. She hated fake people. She loved a good bargain, a well-kept house, good food, and good laughs.
On January 28th, 2021, after spending time with her son and her closest friends, Olga died, peacefully, after a life well lived. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Andrea and Kathleen, by her sister Pia, and by cousins, nephews, nieces and friends in Italy, Australia, Belgium and around the world.
Due to the current Covid situation, there will be no formal service for Olga. Her body will be buried beside Egidio's in Courtenay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you go out into the world, help where you can, and be a light in your community, just like she was.
We want to thank her close friends, her doctor, Susan Hunter, and the amazing staff at CVSV, for everything you have done to make Olga's last years meaningful, and her last days peaceful.
