In Loving Memory ~
On January 27th, 2023, Oddvin Harry Vedo passed away in Duncan at 78 years old. He was born in Ålesund, Norway and immigrated to Canada in 1966.
His life reads like a novel with many chapters. Beginning in Norway building furniture, driving delivery trucks, and serving in the King's Guard. When he arrived in Canada he took those skills to open up a ski shop and later a furniture store in Gastown.
He cared deeply about his customers and grew in his career as an economic developer throughout B.C.
When his mother was aging he moved back to Norway to spend time with her. While there he transformed a retired farmer's field into a thriving golf club and grew a community of friends that enjoyed his company and hospitality.
Throughout each of these chapters, Oddvin could be found with a large St. Bernard or Great Dane by his side. Anyone that met Oddvin would agree that, like his dogs, he was larger than life.
He was a loving father and is survived by his two sons, Hans and Lars, his stepson Tim, their mother Gila, his sister Hildegunn, and his grandchildren with whom he enjoyed playing chess.
